Proctors Collaborative in Schenectady, New York hosts New York City-based Subway Cinema for the wuxia film screening series Flying Sword Heroes: Gravity-Defying Tales from Taiwan, from August 14 – 24, 2025. The series marks Subway Cinema’s first event outside of New York City’s five boroughs. It also marks the biggest U.S. retrospective of Taiwanese wuxia (sword fighting hero) movies ever seen outside of any major American city.
Films being screened during the series include King Hu’s A Touch of Zen (1971) & The Valiant Ones (1975), Joseph Kuo’s The Swordsman of All Swordsmen (1968), along with seven more films.
Every screening in the Flying Sword Heroes series is free of charge and tickets can be reserved online or at the Box Office.
